In the late 1600s the Dutch East India Company started a cattle fold here. Later it was a staging post on route to Stellenbosch, marked by Milestone 15, which can be seen in the entrance hall of the municipal building.

Kuilsriver is situated in the northern suburbs, we like to refer to it as the gateway to Cape Towns wine routes. At the entrance of Kuilsrivier travelling from Bellville along Voortrekker road you will find the NetCare private hospital. From Macassar you are greeted by a large scrap yard / metal processing plant.

All major shopping malls namely, Zevenwacht Mall, Tygervalley Centre, Fairbridge Mall, Somerset mall and the newest addition CapeGate, are easily accessible. Business district expanding as more franchises establish their footprint in Kuilsriver. Area also supported by a wide spectrum of service provider companies including general practitioners (GP) and other medical services.
